ArtSpace charter school has allowed me to volunteer for their art classes. So far I have helped to organize their art supplies and clean the room when the students have finished. In other news I also have volunteered with their new media department and the kids are working on interesting projects for stop-motion animation and virtual world environments like that of View 8.
I have not yet learned more about myself from this experience. However I believe that working with kids is invaluable. I really enjoy making their day by helping however I can. I continue learning while volunteering, our community is filled with a diversity of experiences and belief systems. Working with kids I hear how they communicate and it reminds me of how they are currently learning and growing from their experiences.
Each member of our community needs to give back and with this project it has given me a way to learn and volunteer at the same time. As I continue building up to twenty hours I want to be able to see my efforts help the kids directly or indirectly.
